Setting up Winamp Remote on your Windows computer (compatible with XP and up, 32-bit and 64-bit) is relatively easy. All you need to do is follow these simple steps:
One of the trickiest parts of getting Winamp Remote up and running is the port test that will send out your media. Please be aware some firewalls and routers can be set to block the ports Winamp Remote needs access to. To check this, right-click on the Winamp Remote icon in your system tray (icons next to the clock) and select configuration. Click the Advanced tab and notice the box entitled "DirectStream". There should be a button labeled "Check". Click it and if all goes well you will see a pop-up box that says, "DirectStream is working."
If DirectStream is not working, then you will want to add exceptions to the port numbers listed in the same area for your firewall and/or router.
