Finding a place

The first post as I am re-opening my personal blog. Unlike BigE, this blog isn't limited to just the tech stuff!

Intro

While I've specifically limited my blog on this site to be one of a technical nature, I can't escape the fact that there are many many more topics of interest that I would like to write about. Fortunately, my technical posts have been created under the persona "BigE"

So I decided to create a profile with just my name to separate the blogs between personal life and work life. I imagine this first post will seem pretty random, as I have a lot on my mind.

Continue to Rock the Vote!

Many of you will notice that in honor of the start of my new blog, I have also made a new poll! This one is an important one that I hope to get a lot of feedback on. Namely, I want to know what you think we should name our baby boy that's due in February! So go out and rock the vote. If you choose the "Other" option, make sure you click the Add a comment in the left hand column of the screen after you voted so you can tell us what name you have in mind. Anyone can vote, and anyone can comment. You do not have to have an account with me here in order to do so.

Changes

I hope you don't mind the different look and feel of this site. I'm trying to expand my horizons, especially in a way that will relate to my career path. So this site is a little personal work built on top of smarter people's work who went before. Thanks Drupal!

Omniture Logo

Lately, I have been putting in about 32-34 hours a week working at Omniture. On top of that, 15 credit hours in the Management core may seem like a heavy load, but I am doing alright *I think*. The first rounds of interviews for the China position have started this week, and I am excited to meet with potentially my future boss. I do have a few opportunities ever week to flex my Chinese skills at work, but I must say I was a little disappointed with the infrequent need for the language skills. I suppose I should be grateful in the very least to maintain a working knowledge of the language, and I am sure my skills will improve greatly when I get to move out there crossing fingers...

No self-esteem booster here

The Wii Fit from the outside

So if you didn't know already, I got Brittny a Wii Fit for her birthday. Being preggies as she is, it seems to have the right regimen for her to feel better about not having a gym membership. It's also nice because it's another way she can check her BMI to ensure that she is gaining the right amount of weight, etc.

One thing I will say about this new gadget (surprise, I like acquiring gadgets!) is that the game is very blunt and not very re-affirming. Whenever I do well, I hardly get any notice other than a statement of the plain fact. However, it only takes a little to be off, and then the Wii Fit really gets after you! I guess it's good in a way to provide a sort of virtual coaching, but wow, don't let any sensitive person try this!

Final Thoughts

Yeah, I know this post has been a little random, but I tried to spice it up with pictures and links and such. In any case, it's nice to write out my personal feelings and thoughts again. Until next time...
