Android App of the Week: DailyStrip by FuseTree LLC

DailyStripThis week's choice is from the fun and entertainment genre of Apps. DailyStrip provides a convenient way to deliver comic-strips to your Android device on a daily basis. It accesses a library of over 100 comic-strips, so virtually any comic you want to follow is available.

Since I recently acquired a Motorola Droid for company use, I have had a blast expanding the power and functionality of my phone. A full review of the phone and OS is forthcoming, but in the meantime, I want to start an App of the Week column.

Other awesome features in this App include the following:

  • On-screen Zoom in/out buttons
  • Quick navigation across favorite/bookmarked/all strips
  • Simple buttons for date navigation
  • Random date selection
  • Creation of favorites
  • Creation of bookmarks by date
  • Comic-strip sharing via email and/or SMS
  • Ability to copy direct links to the strip for use in other programs.
  • Saving strips to device (SD card)

Perhaps I am just being nostalgic, but I really enjoy having my morning comics routine back again. Now that I no longer have a real newspaper delivered to me anymore, this is a good supplement to my "virtual" newspapers.

It is available for free (minor ad-support in the app itself) from Android Market on your phone. Feel free to use the QR code to link directly to it on your phone (use Barcode Scanner or Google Goggles App)DailyStrip QR code
