This week I decided to do a little spotlight on Social Media, particularly, Twitter. Now, there are quite a few Apps out for your Android device that fill this function, such as Seesmic or the ever-popular Twidroid, but the real question is which one to choose? Well, after testing each of the "main-contender" programs for some time, I believe I've found a real winner: Touiteur by LevelUp Studio. Now you might have heard of LevelUp Studio before. These are the guys that made beautiful apps and widgets like Beautiful Home (I'll probably be writing about this App in the near future, as well).
While both Twidroid and Seesmic provide excellent functionality for their end users, Touiteur does everything these two popular clients do but with so much style! The interface is incredibly intuitive, styling the elements in subtle ways that help direct and disseminate information (i.e. the striped background of a tweet means that you were mentioned in it):

Also, tapping on a particular tweet will unfold a list of options right under the tweet text so your finger doesn't need to move as far. Conversations are also automatically loaded and shown if they exist for the particular tweet you're looking at. It's simple functional designs like this that really make you feel the amount of thought that was put into creating this App. Very well done, LevelUp Studio!

While the UI is very intuitive and beautiful to look at, the customization options are not limited like you might expect. You can control almost every aspect of the look and feel of the program. Say, for example, you like a larger text size to be used on the tweets so everything is easier to read. Easily done through Touiteur's customizations menu. Theming, color schemes, you name it--it's all there. And this is just the free version we're talking about here. The Pro version--a small fee that could be worth it if you're an avid Twitter user--includes support for multiple accounts, an integrated browser, and a selection of home-screen widgets.

Last but not least, the App and service in general seem to use less resources than the other Android Twitter Apps. Maybe it's just me, but it really felt that way. Touiteur or Touiteur Premium can be customized to fit your level of involvement in this social medium.
The one and only downside I could find at this point was the inability to add a video to my tweet from within the interface, but since I don't really want to upload videos to twitter that much anyway, I'm okay to wait for a newer version that contains this feature.
