So my wife and I finally moved into a really nice place that we are proud to call home. We were quite picky about the kind of apartment we wanted to live in, since we aren't planning on moving for a long while. One of the major selling points for our new place was the availability of great internet.
One of the nice things about living in Utah is the great fiber optic connectivity options! Before I signed the contract for the new place, I specifically called the local ISP (XMission) to ask if they had the 50Mbps up/down connection that I was looking for, and they said they did! I was ecstatic because this place seemed to have everything we wanted and needed.
Then come the let down. I sign the contract and last week I call XMission again to get everything set up.
"Oh, you live in a condo." The rep said.
"Yes, I gave the people the full address the last time I called." I respond.
"Well, we can't give you service there."
"What?!" as you can probably guess, I'm kind of not happy at this point.
Apparently, the Housing Association won't pay for the < 50 feet of cable that it would take to get from the street to my condo! Ah, the shock! The betrayal!
LESSON: Really make sure the Internet you want is available.
